EMDR Intensives

led by Kira Damewood, LPC

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a research-backed, body-aware therapy that helps your brain and nervous system reprocess stuck or distressing experiences. Instead of just talking about what happened, EMDR allows your body to complete the unfinished survival responses — so the memory no longer holds the same emotional charge.

A 4-hour, trauma-focused intensive to help you move through stuck patterns and process what traditional therapy can’t always reach.

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) specializing in complex trauma and trained in EMDR. I offer EMDR intensives for clients who are seeking focused, accelerated healing in a supportive environment. I believe that healing begins with safety, and my approach is relational, collaborative, and always guided by your pace and your nervous system. Together, we’ll work to understand how your past experiences shape your present, creating space for exploration, compassion, and healing.

I hold the belief that all behaviors make sense within the context of your story and lived experience, and that lasting change begins with truly seeing yourself. Outside of the therapy room, I’m a proud cat mom to two feline companions and deeply value connection, presence, and curiosity—both in life and in healing. Whether you’re just beginning your journey or continuing it, I’m honored to walk alongside you.

What is an EMDR Intensive?
An EMDR Intensive is an extended session designed to accelerate the healing process for trauma survivors. Rather than spacing EMDR therapy over months or years, intensives allow clients to process traumatic memories in concentrated blocks of time.

How do EMDR Intensives work?
During intensives, clients may experience assessment, orienting and resourcing, and active EMDR reprocessing in a safe and contained format. This allows for significant progress in fewer sessions, making it especially helpful for those seeking quicker relief from trauma symptoms.

Who benefits most from an EMDR Intensive?
EMDR Intensives are particularly effective for individuals struggling with complex trauma, PTSD, or lingering or recurrent trauma symptoms or recall (such as: trauma anniversary symptoms, flashbacks, etc.). They’re also helpful for people with busy schedules who want concentrated support in fewer visits.

Can EMDR Intensives be done online?
Yes. Many clients benefit from virtual EMDR Intensives, which are offered through secure telehealth platforms. Online intensives provide flexibility while maintaining the effectiveness of in-person sessions.
